It belies Phantasy Star Online 2's age

With all of that being said, and a weeks-worth of cheap Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta headbanging and keyboard slapping in the rearview mirror, the third party PSO2 Tweaker eventually got me into a state where I could reliably run Phantasy Star Online 2, at least up to this stage. No, it was not simple, and it certainly has not been the sort of experience I anticipated, but I can not deny that the PC version, once fixed, is much superior in many ways into the XBOX One variant. For those that were having trouble, for the ones which are still interested in playing PSO2 now, there's a path to playable, paved by a community which refused to give up.

Phantasy Star Online 2 started eight decades ago in Japan, but had been brought to western beaches only lately thanks to fan demand and Microsoft's participation. It's easy to assume Sega's action-MMO has missed the boat, what with Elder Scrolls Online, World of Warcraft, along with Final Fantasy XIV all hoarding the vast majority of the genre's fanbase in their thrall. How could a near-decade old sport dream to compete against these juggernauts? Turns out top-tier battle and a persuasive loot grind are more than enough to keep Phantasy Star Online 2 from becoming a relic of the past.

Phantasy Star Online 2 includes lots of style to hide its own wrinkles. Phantasy Star Online 2 isn't an MMO in the traditional-sense, at least not enjoy those currently dominating this genre. There isn't a wide, open world to explore, jam-packed with players moving about their respective errands. Instead, it's more reminiscent of older lobby-based MMOs like the first Guild Wars. There's a general hub/lounge place where gamers congregate to upgrade their equipment, accept quests, or mingle. This societal hub is similar to the Tower out of Destiny 2, and it's sequestered into various cases, known as"cubes", to keep the servers from slipping to hot slag. Each block may host up to 200 players, and there are well over a hundred each host.

This method means playing with friends or randoms could prove a bit cumbersome sometimes. If your friends are in a different block you will have to first transfer over to theirs until they could invite you in celebration. If you are using the baked-in matchmaking in the mission select screen you can elect to pull players from from your cube, or can look for groups across the assortment of different blocks available, however when a group fills while you're surfing the list doesn't update to notify you of these. It's not terrible as soon as you figure out the nuances, but it belies Phantasy Star Online 2's age.

Other elements of Phantasy Star Online 2 create the eight-year difference between Phantasy Star Online 2's first release along with the North American launch more difficult to ignore. The graphics are obviously from a bygone era, with lighting, textures, and anti-aliasing demonstrating their age the most. The anime artwork design keeps it all afloat, but since you are running about the labyrinthine corridors of buy PSO2 Meseta these procedurally-generated missions it is clear this was a game released in 2012.
